International Conference on Beneficial Microbes: Microbes for the Benefit of Mankind

INFORMATION FOR YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARDS
To promote young & upcoming scientists, will have four (6) awards, three (3) for poster and three (3) for oral presentations.

Young scientists that are competing will be provided FREE REGISTRATION FEE. Based on a first come first served priority. Limited to the first 50 competing young scientists only.

In brief, the guidelines are as follows:


Poster Presentation Award

Posters will be presented from Day-1 until Day-3

  1. This competition is open to undergraduate or postgraduate students, including those who have graduated not more than one year prior to the deadline for submitting abstracts
  2. The entrant must be the senior author of the poster and be present to answer questions for a specified time during the assigned session
  3. The work must represent original research completed and presented by the entrant
  4. Students may enter only one poster in the competition
  5. If an abstract is selected to be presented in an oral paper session, it will be disqualified from the poster award competition
  6. Acceptance of an abstract for presentation is independent of acceptance as a competition finalist
  7. Competition entrants who are chosen as finalists will be notified of their status by the chairperson of the Student Poster Award Committee
  8. Entrants must be registered for the event.
  9. Poster Size : Portrait - maximum 2 ft. (W) X 3 ft. (L)

Judging Process
All abstracts accepted for presentation and entered in the Student Poster Award competition will be reviewed by the Award Committee. Only eligible abstracts accepted for presentation as posters and entered in the competition will be judged. A panel of judges will evaluate the abstracts for the poster competition. The finalists will be notified in advance of the event.

The competing categories are i) Food Microbiology, ii) Agri/Aquaculture, and iii) Medical & Health. The International Committee on Food Microbiology and Hygiene (ICFMH) of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS) will sponsor the category of Food Microbiology. Winners of this category will receive EUR 250 1st prize, EUR 150 2nd prize and EUR 100 3rd prize. All our event sponsors will sponsor the categories of Agri/Aquaculture, and Medical & Health. Winners of these categories will receive RM 500 1st prize, RM 250 2nd prize and RM 100 3rd prize. In all categories, all top THREE winners will receive certificates. 

 

Young Scientist Awards (Oral Presentations)

  1. This competition is open to undergraduate or postgraduate students, including those who have graduated not more than one year prior to the deadline for submitting abstracts
  2. The entrant must be registered for the conference and must be the presenter of his/her talk in any of the assigned session
  3. The work must represent original research completed and presented by the entrant
  4. Acceptance of an abstract for presentation is independent of acceptance as a competition finalist
  5. Entrants who are eligible and chosen for this competition will be notified in advance of the event
  6. Competing categories are i) Food Microbiology, Science & Technology, ii) Agri/Aquaculture, and iii) Medical & Health.

Judging Process
•    All entries submitted will be reviewed by the Award Committee
•    Eligible entrants will be selected and judged by a panel of judges during oral paper sessions.

Judging Criteria
•    Scientific Merit of the Research: Scientifically sound and novel
•    Oral Presentation: Clarity, creativeness, ability to answer questions  

All our event sponsors will host this competition. In all categories, all top THREE winners will receive certificates. Winners will also receive RM500 1st prize, RM250 2nd prize and RM100 3rd prize.
