INFORMATION FOR YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARDS
To promote young & upcoming scientists, will have four (4) awards, one for poster and three (3) for oral presentations. In brief, the guidelines are as follows:


Poster Presentation Award

Posters will be presented from Day-1 until Day-3

  1. This competition is open to undergraduate or postgraduate students, including those who have graduated not more than one year prior to the deadline for submitting abstracts
  2. The entrant must be the senior author of the poster and be present to answer questions for a specified time during the assigned session
  3. The work must represent original research completed and presented by the entrant
  4. Students may enter only one poster in the competition
  5. If an abstract is selected to be presented in an oral paper session, it will be disqualified from the poster award competition
  6. Acceptance of an abstract for presentation is independent of acceptance as a competition finalist
  7. Competition entrants who are chosen as finalists will be notified of their status by the chairperson of the Student Poster Award Committee
  8. Entrants must be registered for the event.
  9. Poster Size : Portrait - maximum 2 ft. (W) X 3 ft. (L)

Judging Process
All abstracts accepted for presentation and entered in the Student Poster Award competition will be reviewed by the Award Committee. Only eligible abstracts accepted for presentation as posters and entered in the competition will be judged. A panel of judges will evaluate the abstracts for the poster competition. The finalists will be notified in advance of the event.

The International Committee on Food Microbiology and Hygiene (ICFMH) of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS), Bened Biomedical, Taiwan AND Young Scientist Network Malaysia will sponsor the Student Poster Paper Competition. All posters will be divided into Food and Non-Food categories. The 1 st prize winner of the Food Microbiology category will receive a cash prize of Euro 500, while the 1st prize winner of the Non-Food Microbiology category will receive a cash prize of USD 500. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners of both categories will receive certificates.

 

Young Scientist Awards (Oral Presentations)

  1. This competition is open to Young Scientists, aged below 35 years old prior to the deadline for submitting abstracts
  2. The entrant must be registered for the conference and must be the presenter of his/her talk in any of the assigned session
  3. The work must represent original research completed and presented by the entrant
  4. Acceptance of an abstract for presentation is independent of acceptance as a competition finalist
  5. Entrants who are eligible and chosen for this competition will be notified in advance of the event
  6. Competing categories are Food Science Technology & Nutrition, Agri/Aquaculture & Prebiotic and Nutraceutical & Medical.

Judging Process
•    All entries submitted will be reviewed by the Award Committee
•    Eligible entrants will be selected and judged by a panel of judges during oral paper sessions.

Judging Criteria
•    Scientific Merit of the Research: Scientifically sound and novel
•    Oral Presentation: Clarity, creativeness, ability to answer questions  

Top THREE winners of all four categories will receive certificates. The 1 st prize winner of each category will receive an additional USD 300 cash prize. Awards sponsored by Probionic Co. Ltd., South Korea AND Bened Biomedical, Taiwan
